The Holiday Hiatus

It’s that time of year again, the end of June, when we start all the holiday festivals, and the long weekends—we just had one this weekend for St. John Baptiste’s day, and there will be another one for Canada Day next weekend—which all leads perfectly into our own extended holidays.

We have the entire month of July off.

Yes, you read right. My Other Half works for the government so we’re lucky enough—because most families want to take August off—that we can enjoy July, the hottest month of the year, bumming around one festival after another, here in the City.

But, of course, no holiday preparing would be complete without the obligatory head cold/sore throat/strep throat to start the proceedings. And yes, we both started with strep throat this weekend. And last night, I had to sleep on the couch propped upright, just to breath. UGH!

Hopefully, we’ll be through the worst before we head off to Montreal on July 5th for the Comic Con, as I don’t fancy cozying up to the star guests for photographs/autographs and breathing toxic germs all over them!

Note to self, don’t go kissing any frogs, it really is bad form!

Anyway, Kiddies, play nice in the sand pit while I’m off sweltering in the Big Smoke (Montreal) enjoying pizza, bagels, jazz festivals, comic cons, and lots of ice cream … you know, to ease the sore throat.

Meanwhile, you’ll either hear the crickets playing our song around here or, be inundated with lots of photos and gossip. Either way, I hope you all have a great summer! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to gargle some salt water.

Oh so I am not the only one beginning my holiday being sick? I think it’s the body being allowed to relax and let go… Now have fun with all this Alexandra!

I think it’s one of those unwritten rules, Sophie: Thou shalt get sick before you go on holiday! It happens without fail. But then, it could also be the change in weather that triggers it too. We go from winter to, OMG how hot is it outside?

Currently sitting at 33 degrees and climbing, with the humidity in the high 80s!

Have an awesome July and hopefully you manage to visit all the interesting events <3

Re jazz… we were watching Bosh last night with the BF, and there was a scene in a bar. So i ask the BF "is this jazz in the background?" he says "yea, it's nice isn't it"… well i was about to point out i feel unnerved and disturbed by it. LOL.
There are some jazz i kinda like, but overall for some reason that type of music makes me agitated. 😀 😀

I’m pill popping and self medicating, so of course, everything’s going to be fine. Right?

All being well, I’ll be posting photos from the various venues, so you can see what we’re up too. Including the Jazz, which actually, is a lot more than just jazz funnily enough. It’s one of those All-World kind of music fests with a little of everything. Which is fine by me, because I kind of like my music to sound melodic too. 😉

They even have Mariah Carey headlining, so it’s that kind of Jazz. Ha! Ha!
