June 2019 TBR

Ever hopeful that I am, I’m making yet another list of books I hope to read this month. Books that have sat on my coffee table, in the lounge, staring up at me not quite pleading, but almost! Yes, I know, how very whimsical of me. But you know what I mean. I’ve had a weird couple of reading months in which, well, I’ve bombed out. Slump? Ennui? I have no idea. I’m either hitting a brick wall, or the books I’ve picked and read are just not grabbing me, or I’m not in the right head/reading space at the moment. Anyway … hoped for reads in June are: THE KINGDOM OF THE BLIND by Louise Penny — Tried, tested, and always true to her vision. I can count on Penny to deliver me out of my reading slump. AND FIRE CAME DOWN by Emma Viskic — This is the sequel to Resurrection Bay, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Hoping this one woos me too. DESCENDANT OF THE CRANE by Joan He — I had hoped …

Book Haul #I’velostcount

Just look what arrived today, not one book, but two, Books that I feel like I order years ago. TWISTED by steve Cavanagh, yes, the book everyone and their mother has been talking about. Though, sadly, it’s not an Eddie Flynn book. But then again, this one will say whether or not Cavanagh can move on from his earlier series, and do a stand alone, and still have great plotting  and unique characters. This one has had me intrigued since it was announced and, so far, I’ve manage to avoid reading any reviews, so, wish me luck. BEFORE YOU READ THIS BOOK I WANT YOU TO KNOW THREE THINGS: 1. The police are looking to charge me with murder. 2. No one knows who I am. Or how I did it. 3. If you think you’ve found me. I’m coming for you next. After you’ve read this book, you’ll know: the truth is far more twisted… The second book that arrived is AND FIRE CAME DOWN by Emma Viskic, which is the sequel to Resurrection Bay, …

If I said there was only one, how would that make me sound? Like I only read stand-alone novels? Or that I read really long series, so the next book in line isn’t really a sequel. Okay, so Shanah, over at the Bionic Book Worm has given me a doozy this week. So I’ve been scratching my head for some time about what to put on this list. Knowing I could put anticipated books, or books lounging on a shelf somewhere. But either way, here’s what I’ve come up with … THE EMPIRE OF GOLD by S. A. Chakraborty — I mean, come on, half the world is holding their breath waiting on this one. Waiting to learn what’s happened to our fav heroes: Nahri, Dara, Ali, and what’s become of Daevabad! And yes, I know, it’s book three in a trilogy, so not a true sequel. AND FIRE CAME DOWN by Emma Viskic — This is the sequel to very enjoyable and quirky Resurrection Bay, and the characters of Caleb Zelic, Kat, and Caleb’s one-time …
