I’m Wishing On A List

This morning I sat down and ruthlessly went through my lists. You know, book lists. Specifically, my Wish List and my I Want To Buy List, whittling down books on both lists that while, at the time I wanted, have been evicted for one reason or another, or demoted to a, I’ll Keep A Note of That Title Just In Case list.

What’s left on my much-shorter list of books I want to buy, are listed below—an eclectic mix of genres—books with characters and stories that interest me. Of course, just because they made it onto this, eh, final list, doesn’t mean I will (A) buy them, or (B) read them. You know how it goes.

  • A BETTER MAN by Louise Penny
  • WE WERE KILLERS ONCE by Becky Masterman
  • THE STRANGE DISAPPEARANCE OF A BOLLYWOOD STAR by Vaseem Khan
  • AND FIRE CAME DOWN Emma Viskic
  • TWISTED by Steve Cavanagh
  • BRUSH BACK by Sara Paretsky
  • BLOOD ON THE TRACKS by Barbara Nickless
  • DEAD STOP by Barbara Nickless
  • THE STATE COUNSELLOR by Boris Akunin
  • PRESUMED INNOCENT by Scott Turow
  • WHERE THE FOREST MEETS THE STARS by Glendy Vanderah
  • THE CHOCOLATE MAKER’S WIFE by Karen Brooks
  • THE LOST GIRLS OF PARIS by Pam Jenoff
  • WHERE THE DEAD LIE by C.S. Harris
  • WHO SLAYS THE WICKED by C.S. Harris
  • WHY KILL THE INNOCENT by C.S. Harris
  • THE GHOST BRIDE by Yangsze Choo
  • THE NIGHT TIGER by Yangsze Choo
  • THE POPPY WAR by R.F. Kuang
  • THE DRAGON REPUBLIC by R.F. Kuang
  • SAVAGE LIBERTY by Eliot Pattison
  • QUEEN OF THE SOUTH by Arturo Parez-Reverte
  • THE OUTCASTS by Kathleen Kent

So, what’s on your list of must-read books?

I absolutely need to have that “I’ll keep a note of that title just in case list” too. Time for me to start forming some proper boundaries with books, LOL. But really your titles sound great and so does the idea of being realistic about what you feel like reading.

Oh, indeed. I think it’s a must, and a good place to keep a note of all the books people recommend to then go check out. I have three lists, the To-Buy list is the smallest, obviously. And that I must keep a note of being the longest. In fact, it’s a little Moleskine notebook, so I can scribble stuff out (in pencil, of course!!)

I haven’t read any of these, but there are several on the list that I also really want to read.

A few of these are from my fav, go-to authors, others from recommendations, so I’m not surprised if you have some of these listed too, Lily! I just hope I get around to them all, especially as others will be joining this list with each passing week.

Oh and Alexandra don’t be frightened if you get a “weird” mail from me! It seems that I could gift the audiobook of Skyward to someone and well, I chose you! I hope it will be completely free for you and will work! It seemed legit. So check your mail and your spam folder. Last thing: I downloaded the audiobook of City of Brass (échange de bons procédés: you listen to my favorite book and I listen to your favorite, kind of a weird buddy read but as we are both unique …LOL)

Oh, what a lovely idea, gifting a book. Okay, will check my gmail account, and thank you for thinking of me. You are way cool, and would make a great buddy to read with, Sophie! 😀

Haha! I see Glendy’s book on that list! But honestly if I had to buy all the books on my list I would go broke!

Exactly, Sophie, so I get creative and move titles to other lists, and get ruthless with my buy list, but even so, as you can see, it’s still lengthy.

And yes, Glendy is on my list because of YOU! 😉

I often do this as well… demote books onto the “interested” list . I find it way less stressful and intimidating.
I have a few i seriously want to read soon tho, and one is the next Steve Cavanagh book and the other is Nine Perfect Strangers by L Moriarty.

Oh, I agree with you on it being less stressful. As these lists can get, eh, a little lengthy at times. lol

And I haven’t heard of Nine Perfect Strangers, dang, see, another one I have to check out. 😉

  6. Twisted is on my list too! Also The Puppet Show and The Lion Tamer Who Lost because both books were praised so much they are must reads and I know I’ll love them

Oh, I like the sound of The Lion Tamer Who Lost. I’ll look out for your review.

And like you, most of these books on my list were all highly praised and recommended by various book bloggers, so I’m hopeful. 😀
