I’m Killing Eve

Okay people, why did no one tell me sooner about the Sandra Oh-helmed series, KILLING EVE, before now? Late to the viewing game, as the show is now on season 3—something I am soooo happy to read about—me and mine only discovered the show this weekend when we found the DVD for season 1 in the Recently Released section. I mean, I’ve heard about Sandra Oh knocking it out of the ballpark with her performance, because didn’t she win an Emmy or something? But we’ve never gotten around to looking for it. We don’t have cable, and have never bothered subbing to Netflix or the like. We’re readers … usually. But this weekend has seen me binge-watch all 8 episodes of season 1 and now, I’m itching to get my sweaty palms on season 2, like, yesterday! “Eve’s life as a spy is not adding up to what she had hoped it would be when she started. She is a bored, very smart, MI5 security officer who is very desk-bound. Villanelle is a very talented …

Montreal ComicCon 2019

We finally booked our tickets for the Montreal ComicCon—for the weekend of July 5 to 7. And I can’t wait, as the line up of guests for this year is amazing: William Shatner — Star Trek Lana Parrilla — Once Upon A Time Eliza Taylor — The 100 Tom Welling — Smallville / Lucifer Michael Rosenbaum — Smallville Alan Tudyk — Firefly / Star Wars Ray Park — Star Wars Anson Mount — Inhumans / Star Trek: Discovery Ethan Peck — Star Trek: Discovery James Phelps — Harry Potter Oliver Phelps — Harry Potter We’ve seen William Shatner a couple of times at previous Cons, so if there are any scheduling conflicts I’m sorry, Bill, but we’ll take a pass. Especially as we’re all fired up to see Lana Parrilla—the Evil Queen from Once Upon A Time—and Eliza Taylor—Clarke Griffin from The 100. We know it’s important to remember, that we might not get to see everyone, so we always make sure we pick beforehand and schedule accordingly. As experienced ComicCon goers, we know what …

E Pluribus Unum

Warning: This post contains spoilers from Sunday’s Madam Secretary premiere. Sometimes, and not very often enough, a TV show comes along that just rocks my world. One such show is MADAM SECRETARY, starring Teá Leoni in the title role, as Elizabeth McCord. This outstanding show—penned and steered by Barbara Hall and God himself, Morgan Freeman—is now in it’s fifth season. It was the premiere episode this Sunday, in which Gen. Colin Powell, Madeline Albright and a personal hero of mine, Hilary Clinton guest starred, playing themselves. Each of these great previous, real-life, Secretary of State, offering advice and sage counsel to the fictional McCord on the topic of a Unified America, and the rise of Nationalism — “a perversion of patriotism” she quotes in what is, quite honestly, truly one of the most outstanding speeches never given by a Secretary of State or, to come out of the White House. The fictional McCord’s remarks were inspirational—so much so, I ended up with chills going down my spine and goosebumps all along my arms. Here’s the full text …

A Way Back To The Future

Last week I did a Top Ten TV Shows that I loved post, and realised that most of the shows I had listed were cop dramas and or comedy shows. I completely forgot to share some of my fav SF shows. So, to rectify that, I thought to share a handful more shows that I watch(ed) and love. Such as: KILLJOYS — This is another Canadian-made show, that is into it’s fourth season and is just brilliant. The acting, the cast and crew, and the writing, are all outstanding. Fun, irreverent, serious, and downright addictive viewing. Check out Dutch and her crew as the try to stop interplanetary war, alien invasion and the bad guys in their own ranks! THE EXPANSE — Who out there hasn’t seen at least one episode? Come on people, this is simple the BEST SF TV show out there. The scripts, the cast and crew, and the cinematic treatment of each and every episode make this one a cut above the rest. Bobby, Avasarala, and Naomi Nagata, I mean, what …

Top Ten Wednesday: My Top 10 Fav TV Shows

Okay, so I know there is no such #tag but, after seeing Norrie’s post, 10 Binge Worthy TV Shows To Watch (and, as I had already posted my Top 5 Tuesday, yesterday) I though I would steal Norrie’s idea and do a post on my favourite Top 10 TV Shows of the moment. So, in no particular order: CARDINAL — A wholly Canadian show with two seasons down and a third coming this autumn. I can’t wait. This psychological police drama has been gripping viewing and, with only 6 episodes a season, tells a complete story. [Based on the series of books written by Giles Blunt.] Billy Campbell stars as John Cardinal, supported by Karine Vanasse as Det. Lise Delhorme. PRIVATE EYES — Another uniquely Canadian show about a PI, Angie Everett (Cindy Sampson) who takes on Matt Shade (Jason Priestley), an ex-hockey player as a partner, and they team up to solve crime together. A very funny comedy-drama. THE DETAIL — Okay, so I live in Canada, I watch a lot of Canadian TV. …
