DETAILS Title: The Perplexing Theft of the Jewel in the Crown [book #2] Author: Vaseem Khan Publisher: Redhook ISBN: 9780316386845 Genre: Crime Fiction BACK COVER BLURB For centuries the Koh-i-Noor diamond has set man against man and king against king. Now part of the British Crown Jewels, the priceless gem is a prize that many have killed to possess. So when the Crown Jewels go on display in Mumbai, security is everyone’s principal concern. And yet, on the very day Inspector Chopra visits the exhibition, the diamond is stolen from under his nose. The heist was daring and seemingly impossible. The hunt is on for the culprits. But it soon becomes clear that only one man—and his elephant—can possibly crack this case… WHAT I THOUGHT Inspector Ashwin Chopra (Retd) a former member of the Mumbai policeman, is now one of my favourite characters. In this second installment of the Baby Ganesh series, we find Chopra settling into retirement as a private investigator, working out of an office in his new digs, a restaurant named after …

Meanwhile, Brigid also agrees to help a local couple by investigating the death of their son—which also turns out not to be as simple as had been assumed. Top 5 Tuesday: 5 Badass Females

Sometimes it’s hard, really hard, to choose just 5 of something. Like today’s Top 5 Tuesday topic of Bad Ass Females courtesy of Shanah over at Bionic Book Worm. Are you kidding me, I can only choose FIVE? But. But. There. Are. So. Many! Well, I’m almost sure no one is going to have heard of some of these female characters, but to me, they know how to kick butt with the best of them! #1. LORI ANDERSON by Steph Broadribb — Lori Anderson is as tough as they come, managing to keep her career as a fearless Florida bounty hunter separate from her role as single mother …

My Book Haul

I’m really proud of how many books I’ve read this month, and how quickly I’ve managed to shrink my TBR pile as a result. So proud, I decided yesterday was a Book Buying Day! And why not. I still had two Christmas gift cards I hadn’t used, and what better way to use them, of course, than buying more books! Look at my haul! Two more fantasy books for Fantasy February, a couple for Mystery March, and one for All-sorts April. What do you think? Quite the nice haul, I would say.
